Here’s the easy home remedy for getting rid of unsightly tartar stains from your teeth

Did you know that good oral health can actually affect the rest of your body? According to the Mayo Clinic, without proper dental hygiene, your body will not be able to keep the bacteria in your mouth at a healthy level. This can lead to infections and gum disease.

Tartar, which builds up on teeth from food and bacteria, makes it difficult to brush your teeth properly, says WebMD. This increases the risk of cavities and infections. Although doctors recommend getting a professional cleaning at the dentist every six months, there are some natural remedies you can do at home to reduce tooth buildup on your own.

Apply apple cider vinegar

Try soaking your toothbrush in apple cider vinegar and then brushing your teeth as usual. Rinse your mouth well. Try to do this once or twice a week because apple cider vinegar can damage your teeth if left on for too long or used too often.

Brush with baking soda

Replace your regular toothpaste with a little baking soda and a pinch of salt to remove tartar buildup on your teeth. Try making a baking soda mouthwash by mixing 1/2 cup baking soda, 1 cup water, 10 drops lemon oil, 4 teaspoons vegetable glycerin, and 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel. Mix the ingredients well and use it once or twice a day.
Eat some fruits

Take some of your favorite red fruits (strawberries and tomatoes in particular) and rub them on your teeth. Let the juice sit on your teeth for five minutes to loosen the buildup. Rinse your mouth with baking soda and warm water for a brighter smile. Other foods that work well include peppers, berries, lemons and oranges, according to Positive Med.

In addition to these simple recipes, some changes to your routine can also help. Try eliminating tobacco, brushing and flossing your teeth regularly, and increasing spicy foods in your diet (to help with saliva buildup and the natural cleansing process).
